Managing Contractor Sponsorship and Reporting
A natural gas company operating across upstream and midstream sectors faced challenges in effectively managing its 376 contractors. While leadership recognized the importance of oversight at the sponsorship level, the company lacked a reliable way to assign contractors by sponsor and generate the necessary reports.
An early attempt at a solution proved insufficient, as it did not allow for sponsor-level visibility or on-demand reporting. This gap left both sponsors and administrators without the tools they needed to proactively monitor contractor compliance and engagement.
Supply Chains by Sponsor
With guidance from Veriforce’s development team, the company adopted a new approach: building supply chains around each sponsor and assigning contractors accordingly. This setup gave the health and safety administrator a flexible way to keep contractor assignments current as sponsors changed roles or added new contractors.
Sponsors could also log into Veriforce directly, run reports on their assigned contractors, and receive proactive notifications about compliance status.
A Practical Rollout
The implementation was straightforward. Supply chains were created for each sponsor, and contractors were assigned accordingly. This setup required no major restructuring of existing processes, but it unlocked a higher level of efficiency and accountability for both administrators and sponsors.
Increased Compliance and Field Engagement
The impact was immediate and measurable:
By putting more responsibility and visibility into the hands of field sponsors, the company improved both compliance outcomes and overall engagement with the Veriforce platform.
Collaboration Unlocks Better Tools
This project highlighted the importance of collaboration and creative problem-solving. By working closely with Veriforce, the company identified a feature, supply chains, that had been underutilized but proved highly effective for sponsor-level management.
Best Practice: Supply chains should not be limited to insurance or risk level structures. They can also be leveraged to assign contractors by sponsor, department, or other meaningful categories.
Building on Success
With this new structure in place, the company now has a more fluid and transparent way to manage contractors, generate reports, and drive compliance across operations. Looking ahead, the team plans to expand the use of supply chains to further strengthen reporting efficiency and engagement.
